Najib: BN will win back Penang in GE 13
(The Malaysian Insider) – GEORGE TOWN, April 2 — Buoyed by local support during his visit to the ground here today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the Barisan Nasional (BN) will definitely wrest back the state from its rival Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the next general election.
The BN chairman and Umno president told reporters he sensed a shift in voter sentiment during his walkabout earlier in the day.
He said many of the locals he spoke with had complained of neglect and having a tough time making a living under Lim Guan Eng’s state administration compared to when BN held power.
“There is an inclination for change. Although it is yet sentiment, we want the sentiment to be translated into support,” he was quoted as saying by national news agency Bernama.
Najib called on those residents to translate their unhappiness into votes at the next general election, widely anticipated to be called by year end, ahead of its 2013 due date.
The PM also hit out at PR lawmakers for accusing Putrajaya of deliberately leaving Penang out of development plans, saying they were politicising the issue, even as Lim said today the state was willing to work with the federal government to co-develop the “Greater Penang Transformation Programme”.
