Show clip in Parliament, says Karpal
(NST) – DAP chairman Karpal Singh yesterday said the sex video clip, featuring a man resembling opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, should be viewed by members of parliament in Parliament.
“In view of the public anxiety and concern for the emergence of this tape, it is important, in the public’s interest, that the video be viewed by MPs who represent the people,” he said in a press statement yesterday.
He said making the tape available for public viewing falls under Section 5(1)of the Film Censorship Act 2002 and Section 292 of the Penal Code.
However, the Bukit Gelugor MP said, screening the tape within the four walls of Parliament would give parliamentary immunity to all MPs from criminal or any other liability.
On Friday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said local experts had confirmed the 22-minute video clip was not doctored.
