Witches’ brew for Taib and Sarawak politics

Balingian independent candidate Salleh Jafaruddin fired his first shot at Chief Minister Taib Mahmud with his intimate revelations of little known secrets involving the latter.

Salleh reminded voters that it was now a “joint moral, legal, political, social and religious responsibilities” of all Sarawakian to remove Taib from power and the only way to do so was to “make him lose in this election”.

Sarawak, according to former federal deputy education minister, Salleh Jafaruddin, is being ruled by a “semi-insane leader” who has surrendered his mental, physical and spiritual faculties to “foreign witchcraft”.

Alluding to his cousin Chief Minister Taib Mahmud, Salleh said “foreign witches are currently encircling him and his closely guarded political cronies”.

“I personally met and confronted the three witches on the day of nomination in Mukah.

“I explicitly told the witches that they have no business and legitimacy to give spiritual and mental advice and guidance to our chief minister because he is an exceptional and intellectually capable person in this country especially during this election.

“They are getting directly involved in influencing the decision-making of Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate list in collaboration with Awang Tengah (Ali Hassan), Raziah Mahmud, Taib himself and the outlaws,” he added.

(Awang Tengah is State Second Planning and Resource Management Minister and Raziah is Taib’s sister.)

“Not many souls know this inside story until the surprise incident that took place on the nomination day in Mukah,” Salleh said.

“The extent of their wicked influence over Taib’s political grip is beyond repair to the extent of even ignoring our prime minister’s political influence.”

Salleh’s revelation confirmed an observation by a Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) source who on Wednesday told FMT that Salleh, 67, would bring “intimate information about Taib and how he plotted his rule” to the election campaign.

The source was also quoted as saying that Taib didn’t “even trust his own party people”.

Balingian is a hot seat as Salleh, who is supported by the Movement of Change Sarawak (MoCS), takes on Taib for the April 16 state polls.

‘Taib is lying’

Salleh is not just anybody. He and Taib are former chief minister Rahman Yaakob’s nephews.

Once tipped to take over and lead Taib’s PBB party, Salleh fell out of favour in the 1980s when he became involved in a bid to topple Taib in the well-known “Ming Court” affair.

Since then, Salleh and other PBB leaders, including Bujang Ulis and Wan Habib Syed Mahmud, have become Taib’s sworn enemies.

According to Salleh, Taib has also been lying to his PBB leaders.

“We abhor liars and we want the truth and justice to come out.

“Taib has been lying to his own PBB leaders, the BN component parties and the entire voters of Sarawak for the last three decades that he has not found a suitable leader to succeed him.

“If 30 years is insufficient period to train a successor, do you believe that the next few months after this election he can pluck someone from thin air to succeed him unless that someone is the ‘nominee’ of his witch doctors?

“Sarawak as a state in Malaysia is currently facing a crisis of leadership and political confidence, especially in PBB.

“To allow Taib to continue to lead Sarawak is amounting to surrendering our right to determine our political future and walking into the trap of these witches,” he said.

Make him lose’

Salleh reminded voters that it was now a “joint moral, legal, political, social and religious responsibilities” of all Sarawakian to remove Taib from power and the only way to do so was to “make him lose in this election”.

He urged PBB leaders like Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg and Adenan Satem to come out and immediately checkmate Taib to save the country’s political future from falling into chaos.

“Liars should be removed from office at whatever political cost and in whatever position to ensure that Sarawak’s future will be in safe hands free of underhand political influence,” he said.
