Police To Probe Report On Alleged 1,839 MACC Custody Deaths

(Bernama) – KUALA LUMPUR — The police are to investigate a report on a news portal that 1,839 people had died in the custody of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the past 10 years.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah said the probe would be conducted under Section 505 of the Penal Code pertaining to statements contributing to public mischief.

The police would apply to the public prosecutor on Monday for permission to proceed with the case,” he told reporters after a dialogue between Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah and the public on crime prevention organised by MSL Properties at the Wangsa Walk shopping mall, here.

The MACC lodged a police report on Friday over the news portal report.
