Police have identified man in sex video, says IGP

(The Star) – KUALA LUMPUR: Police have identified the man in the sex video implicating an opposition leader, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said Thursday.

He added that police had also recorded a statement from the woman seen in the video.

Ismail said the identity of the man was verified based on strong evidence obtained during investigations.

He, however, declined to reveal the identity of the man in the video as it could interfere with the on-going investigation.

“The experts had earlier confirmed the video recording to be genuine. And based on the facts and evidence gathered, we are able to identify the man.

“The investigation into the video is expected to be completed next week,” he told reporters here.

Ismail also revealed they were now ascertaining, who is the owner of the Omega watch handed to the police.

On March 21, newsmen were shown a 22-minute video, showing a man resembling the opposition leader, having sex with a woman, by a man who identified himself only as ‘Datuk T’. He claimed the video was recorded on Feb 21 in a local hotel room.

Early this month, a ‘teaser’ of the controversial video was loaded on popular social video site YouTube.

The one minute, 47 second clip showed a man in a towel and a woman in what appeared to be a hotel room.
