EC officers refuse to verify voting results with Pakatan, says PKR

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 — PKR accused Election Commission (EC) officers today of refusing to share results in the Sarawak state elections with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidates.

PKR political bureau member Sivarasa Rasiah said EC officers at the Simunjan and Asajaya constituencies have refused to give a copy of the signed Borang 14 to PR candidates’ agents, as polling closed at 5pm today.

“The purpose of the Borang 14 is to prevent any manipulation of the verified result.

“It is a mandatory requirement that the presiding officer must give a copy of the Borang 14 to the agent of the candidate present. Any breach of these provisions constitutes a criminal offence,” the Subang MP said in a statement.

Sivarasa urged the EC to take action against such errant officers, saying, “we will not hesitate to sue and prosecute SPR (Election Commission) and the particular officials involved in their personal capacities for these illegal transgressions of the election laws.”

“We wish to warn (Barisan Nasional) BN that any attempt to continue this illegal practice after counting continues once voting stops at 5pm will result in a fraudulent result which will be rejected as such,” he added.

Initial reports show that the opposition pact is leading BN by a good number of seats despite allegations of vote rigging and irregularities at several polling centres.
