All MIC members removed for challenging the former president of the party, including the rebel leaders, can return to the party said party president Datuk G. Palanivel.
His predecessor Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu sacked them for openly challenging his presidency him last year.
The current president said the party central working committee (CWC) last night decided to let them return to their respective posts won during September 2009 party election.
“In an effort to strengthen the party to face the 13th general election, the MIC central working committee today has decided to offer an opportunity to all those members who were sacked, suspended or left on their own after the March 2008 General Election to return to the party with immediate effect.
“The MIC central working committee decided to give a chance to all members including the three sacked last year with the condition that they send in a written appeal to the party within 30 days,” he told reporters here.
According to Palanivel, their vacancies have not been filled.
“If chosen during the September 2009 party elections, they have the right to regain their positions,” he said.
The three leaders sacked by Samy Vellu last year are CWC members Kumar Aamaan and K.P. Samy, as well as former MIC Youth Chief V Mugilan, who was also former MIC Selangor and Hulu Selangor Youth Chief.
“V. Mugilan, who was sacked last year can also return to his elected post as the MIC deputy youth chief. The same goes to the other two CWC members, K.P Samy and Kumar Amman,” he said.
The three leaders led the campaign on the anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) has called on the veteran leader to resign immediately last year.
