Opposition Capitalising On Development Implemented By BN

(Bernama) — The opposition appear to be taking advantage from the development projects undertaken by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government for political gain, said Information Communication and Culture  Minister Dr Rais Yatim.

He said the opposition were seen trying to deny what the government had implemented and eventually inciting the people to support them.

“As such, he said everyone should play a role so that the opposition’s political ploy no longer influences the people generally for the sake of their future.

“This is among the trend which caused us to lose support in the urban areas in the Sarawak state election recently,” he told reporters after opening the programme to popularise arts and culture and the launching of the ‘Wireless Village’ at Kampung Dalam, near here yesterday.

Rais was asked on the trend where the urban community in Sarawak had generally supported the opposition in the Sarawak state election last week.

The minister said this phenomenon should be overcome so that it would no longer influence the people in the next general election.

“After observing the developments in Sarawak, we lost the mandate in almost all the towns. This means that the opposition had succeeded to influence the people in the areas concerned.

“We cannot allow this trend to continue to face the bigger challenge,” Rais added.
