Ringgit appreciation will not jeopardise exports: Najib

(Bernama) – PUTRAJAYA — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the ringgit’s recent appreciation has not jeopardised Malaysia’s exports.

He said a stronger ringgit has, in fact, made the country’s exports more competitive.

“We must adjust. When we see the ringgit strengthening, we should use the opportunity to make ourselves more competitive,” he said at a press conference after chairing the National SME Development Council meeting here today.

Najib also said this was also an excellent opportunity for companies to beef up their internal processes by aquiring new equipment and ensuring a more efficient supply chain.

“It will also enable structural adjustments to be made at the company and organisation level, including, that of small-and-medium enterprises,” the prime minister added. — Bernama
