1 Melayu compromises 1 Malaysia, says Rafidah
(The Malaysian Insider) – KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia will be threatened by the “1 Melayu, 1 Bumi” campaign proposed by Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia, former Cabinet member Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz said today.
The former minister today urged the Malay community not to be taken in by the movement, asking them to instead embrace the clear principles laid out by Najib’s concept.
“It (1 Malaysia) is not just a slogan, but instead, it’s a reality that should be achieved to ensure that unity and stability will continue to prevail in the country,” Rafidah said at an event here today.
The former Wanita Umno chief also said the 1 Malaysia concept should not be abandoned.
A fortnight ago, Utusan Malaysia has called on owners Umno to spearhead a “1 Melayu, 1 Bumi movement” involving all Malay parties, claiming that the DAP was intent on toppling the country’s Malay leadership.
