‘No need for Anwar to take lie detector test’

PETALING JAYA: Anwar Ibrahim does not need to submit to a polygraph test as he is not the adulterer in the controversial sex video, said PKR vice-president N Surendran.

Surendran rubbished the call made by Datuk T member Shahzryl Eskay Abdullah, who recently dared Anwar to prove his innocence.

Shahzryl made the challenge after swearing over the Quran on April 30 that the man in the sex video was the opposition leader.

At the time, however, Anwar did not turn up to take and oath to prove that he wasn’t the man in the video.

“The physical differences between Anwar and the actor in the video is obvious and unmistakable,” said Surendran.

“In the face of the unconvincing nature of the video evidence, what is the necessity of a lie detector test?”

Surendran said that Shahzryl’s challenge was another attempt to gain public support over the allegations made against Anwar.

He denounced these actions as a “campaign of villification”, adding that Shahzryl and his Datuk T colleagues were relying on “increasingly desperate and sensational tactics”.

“It is remarkable of the Datuk T trio’s twisted sense of justice and moral values that they see fit to issue the lie detector demand to Anwar after the false and scandalous allegations against him,” Surendran said.
