Anwar is really immature, says Tengku Adnan

(The Straits Times) – THE latest incident where Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak a derogatory name showed the Opposition Leader’s immaturity, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor said.

He said Anwar has the habit of calling those who were against him names. ‘It is he (Anwar) who is the pandikutti (Tamil for piglet) and not my Prime Minister. I am very upset with the statement and I hope that he will be more civilised. If one is perfect, then he can criticise others. I think he has not looked at himself in the mirror.

‘He is trying to cover his weaknesses by calling people names. He is pointing fingers at others, forgetting that other fingers are pointing back at him,’ Tengku Adnan said after announcing details of Umno’s 65th anniversary celebrations which will be held on Wednesday.

Anwar, at a Malaysian Indian Voice gathering in Klang recently, had accused Mr Najib of playing gutter politics by allowing a sex tape – allegedly involving him – to be released and went on to call the Prime Minister ‘a real pandikutti’.

Asked if Umno would demand an apology from Anwar over the statement, Tengku Adnan said there was no point in asking for an apology from a ‘mad man’.

Asked about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s opinion that the general election should not be held this year, the party secretary-general said that Dr Mahathir was free to give his views but it was up to the Prime Minister to gauge the situation and decide.
