175,000 1Malaysia laptops for Sabah people: MCMC


(Bernama) TAWAU: The government has allocated about 175,000 units of the 1Malaysia laptops for distribution, in stages, to the people in Sabah.

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) deputy director for Sabah and the Labuan Federal Territory, K. Juslly Elis said the number of laptops allocated for Sabah formed 14% of the total 1.2 million 1Malaysia laptops for distribution to eligible Malaysians nationwide.

“Under the first phase, a total of 10,000 units of the 1Malaysia laptops were distributed to residents, including students, in Sabah, last year,” he said in his speech at the presentation of the laptops to 1,000 students in 10 secondary schools in the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency here Saturday.

Present to give away the laptops was Kalabakan Member of Parliament Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh.

Juslly Elis said that phase two involved 49,832 laptops and the third phase, 112,500 units, of which 52,000 units would be allocated for students.

Meanwhile, Abdul Ghapur advised the students to fully utilise the facility provided to them by the Barisan Nasional government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. – Bernama
