Foreign experts confirm sex video genuine

“I confirm that the video is genuine but I didn’t confirm that the man in the video is Anwar,” Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here.

(Bernama) — Foreign experts have confirmed that the sex video featuring a man resembling Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is genuine but police say there is no necessity to reveal who the actor is.

“I confirm that the video is genuine but I didn’t confirm that the man in the video is Anwar,” Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here.

He also said that there was no need to reveal the identity of the man featured in the video

“I don’t have to explain. If the law says we should reveal, then we will; if not, then we won’t,” he said.

He also said that police were working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate those responsible for uploading snippets of the video on video sharing website, YouTube.

“It’s not easy to trace the perpetrators because they uploaded the footage from outside the country. It takes time to investigate,” he said, adding that police were finalising their investigation and would submit their report to the Attorney-General’s Chambers soon.

Asked about the report lodged by Anwar’s daughter Nurul Izzah claiming that her family received threats, he said police would investigate all reports in a fair manner.
