Umno Youth applies for permit to hold patriotic gathering on July 9

(Bernama) – The Umno Youth movement today applied for a police permit to hold a patriotic assembly on July 9 to represent the voice of the public who opposed the illegal gathering organised by the group of trouble makers on the same day.

Federal Territory Umno Youth head Rizalman Mokhtar said the application was to show the opposition to the group who planned to hold the illegal assembly in the federal capital.

“Our (Umno Youth’s) objective is to represent the silent majority who do not agree with the action of the organisers of the illegal assembly who try to disturb public order in the federal capital…so we hold this gathering which is in a more peaceful manner,” he said.

He said this to reporters after applying for a permit for the gathering at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters at about 3.30pm today. Also present was the Umno Youth executive secretary Mohd Sumali Reduan.

“If the application is rejected, we will still proceed with the gathering because it also depends on the organisers of the illegal assembly. If the illegal assembly is held, then Umno Youth will also proceed with the assembly,” he said.
