MACC officers raid NFC

Six officers from Putrajaya decend on NFC head office in Solaris Mont Kiara.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Six Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) enforcement officers  raided the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) office located in Solaris Mont Kiara this afternoon.

Of the six, five were plainclothes officers. The raid began at 3pm and is reportedly in connection to the NFC scandal.

Staff were seen cooperating with the officials as they ushered them into the office premises.

Two more MACC officers entered the premises at about 4pm, carrying two large briefcases. The raid lasted about two hours.

MACC’s operations enforcement officer Wan Abdul Rahman Wan Mohd Salleh said that they interviewed the NFC staff only.

“They gave us their full cooperation.

“We have confiscated four A4-sized envelopes of documents and a CPU,” he said.

Yesterday, police arrested a 45-year-old businessman for allegedly attempting to bribe senior officers who were investigating the NFC scandal.

Also yesterday, the MACC announced that a special team has been formed to investigate allegations of corruption in the management of public funds for the NFC.

The special team is headed by the commission’s Director of Investigations, Mustafar Ali.

A messy business

NFC, which is run by the husband of Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, has been the target of attack from the opposition, especially PKR, since the release of the Auditor-General’s 2010 report, which said the corporation was “in a mess”.

In the latest in its series of exposés, PKR said Shahrizat’s family owned a luxury condominium worth RM10 million in Singapore.
