Nik Aziz tells PAS to snub ‘enemy media’

(The Malaysian Insider) – Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has called on PAS not to provide fodder for Barisan Nasional (BN) and avoid airing their grievances in media outlets controlled by the party’s political opponents.

The PAS spiritual leader said in a statement yesterday that disagreements should be settled internally instead, after recent attacks by renegade leaders Datuk Hasan Ali and Nasharudin Mat Isa.

“I call on all quarters in the party not to use mass media owned by political enemies of PAS to talk about internal problems.

“I am confident that what has happened recently is a small storm that has been exaggerated in the mass media. After this small storm, a cooling rain will fall,” the Kelantan mentri besar said.

Selangor executive councillor Hasan and former deputy president Nasharudin have repeatedly criticised the party for ostensibly deviating from its Islamic agenda during recent interviews with Umno-linked Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian.

Hasan has also been featured almost nightly on TV3, criticising the party that removed him as Selangor chief after its muktamar in June.

The party decided on Wednesday to summon both Hasan and Nasharudin to explain their recent outbursts and public criticisms against the party.
