Stay away from Wilayah mosque on Jan 9, Pekida, Perkasa warn PKR
(The Malaysian Insider) – The Malaysian Islamic Dakwah Organisation (Pekida) and Perkasa today warned PKR and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s supporters to stay away from the Federal Territories mosque near the Jalan Duta High Court here.
The two groups said they will be involved in a (Qiamullail) programme on January 9 in the mosque, and that it has been approved by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
“If Anwar’s group causes havoc, Pekida Malaysia will take action; do not cross the line.
“Pekida has a dakwah programme and Qiamullail at the Wilayah mosque, so do not cause havoc; the mosque is for people to pray and to preach,” Pekida supreme council member Mohd Syahril Abdul Aziz told reporters outside the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.
Both Perkasa and Pekida had been summoned by the police to explain their joint event at the Federal Territories mosque on Monday, the same day PKR is having its rally supporting Anwar.
“We have planned this programme in advance. It starts on the evening of January 8, and ends at 11am on January 9.
“To Anwar’s supporters, do not try to take advantage of us,” said Syahril.
Perkasa deputy president Datuk Abdul Rahman Abu Bakar told reporters 2,000 Perkasa members will be attending the programme at the mosque.
“I give an assurance that Perkasa members will not do anything provocative; we will only be at the mosque area for the programme,” he said.
