Focus on winning, not PM’s post: Hadi
(Harakah Daily) – PAS president Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang said speculations of an ‘interim prime minister’ to replace parliamentary Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim if the latter is imprisoned were irrelevant so long as BN was in power.
Commenting on recent talks of who could replace a jailed Anwar, the Pakatan Rakyat’s candidate for prime minister, Hadi said the more important task at present was to work for PR’s victory in the coming elections.
Posting on his Facebook page, Hadi said the question of who would occupy the PM’s post was secondary for now.
“What is more important is that we work for PR’s victory in the 13th general election. Who becomes the PM is not important as long as the country is safe [from Barisan Nasional]. Everything is in the hands of God,” he wrote.
Earlier, Anwar told news portal Malaysiakini that an interim prime minister would be appointed if PR emerged the winner while he was jailed.
“We did discuss this among the Pakatan leadership (in the event of his imprisonment). But is that a real problem? No. Because if we win, there is going to be an interim PM.
“Of course, I’m keen that once we win, I shouldn’t be in prison for far too long,” he said.
