Wan Azizah’s aide stable, no trace of poison yet


(Bernama) – The bodyguard of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, is believed to have been pierced with a sharp object during a rally at Cheruk Tok Kun, Bukit Mertajam last night.    

Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district police chief ACP Azman Abd Lah said Fayyadh Afiq Albakry Jaafar Sidek, 26, is being treated at Seberang Jaya Hospital (SJH) here and in stable condition.     

The victim claimed that his left hand was hurt after pierced with a sharp object when accompanying Wan Azizah to the stage to speak at Galeri Pejuang, at about 10pm,”  he told a press conference at SPT police headquarters here today.     

Meanwhile, Penang police chief Ayub Yaakob told another press conference that police have formed a special team to investigate the case.     

The special team was to determine the cause and actual injury suffered by the victim, he said after visiting Fayyadh Afiq at SJH today.     

The team led by SJH director Dr Azlina Mohd Radzi, Penang Hospital forensic specialist Dr Zahari Noor and SJH internal medical specialist Dr Teoh Guik Lee were also present at the press conference.     

Ayub said: “Examination (by medical team) today found scratches of 0.4 centimetres in the left hand but there were no side effects.     

“The hospital has taken his blood and urine samples for tests at chemistry department and the result will be known tomorrow.”     

The medical examination also found no traces or signs that the victim was poisoned or injected with drugs like that claimed by some blogs.     

Public with information on the incident have been urged to come forward to help police investigation.     

When met at SJH, Fayyadh Afiq said he was unsure how his hand was hurt as there were a lot of people and the situation was chaotic.
