901 blasts a sign of things to come?
PKR fears that Malaysian politics may have entered a dangerous phase.
(Free Malaysia Today) – PKR leaders fear that today’s Jalan Duta Court Complex bombings may signal a change to a new and dangerous political climate in Malaysia.
Calling this morning’s three explosions “premeditated”, Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar said she shuddered at the thought that similar attacks might happen in the future.
“There is the possibility that we’re entering a very dangerous political climate,” she told reporters after visiting the five bomb victims at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) this afternoon.
The explosions rocked the Jalan Duta court complex this morning, minutes after the High Court acquitted Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim of sodomy.
The first bomb exploded at about 10:15am along Jalan Khidmat Usaha, with two more blasts following soon after.
Two of the bombs were hidden under police traffic cones. The other was inside a rubbish bin.
The five admitted to HKL suffered minor injuries. They are PKR members Ng Kian Seng (36), Zulhari Mansur (20), Isaiah Jacob (45) and Tang Eng Ghee (47) and lawyer Keith Christopher Yeoh Min Kit (26).
Nurul said she would not speculate on the identity of the bombers, but she urged police to “exhaust all efforts” to bring them to justice.
“Maybe security measures can be focused on this, but these must be coupled with a strong, clear message,” she said. “Pakatan Rakyat does not want any attacks against anyone.
“We can have political differences, but we must maintain social harmony.”
