Hard for Pakatan to topple BN, says Hadi

The PAS president says the road to Putrajaya is long and winding.

(Bernama) –  PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang admitted that it would be an arduous task to wrest power from the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in the 13th general election.

He said the opposition would have to work hard to win the general election as the road to Putrajaya was long and winding.

“We have recounted our dream again and again. It is rather difficult to achieve unless we work in earnest.

“We have a big responsibility in our quest for Putrajaya but the road is winding and full of challenges,” he said in his winding-up speech at the third Pakatan Rakyat Convention at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here today.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, in his winding-up speech, said the BN still has the upper hand and there is no guarantee that the opposition could win the general election, thus it must ready to take up the challenges.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of non-governmental organisations, S Ambiga urged the opposition to weed out corruption if it was able to form the next government.

“We can forgive small fish… but catch the big fish. I want to know the opposition’s position in combating corruption,” she added.
