Hasan Ali’s replacement to be announced on Wed

(Bernama) – The new Selangor state executive councillor, who will be replacing Datuk Dr Hasan Ali, will only be announced during the swearing-in ceremony before the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Istana Bukit Kayangan here on Wednesday.

Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said this was because PAS top leaders and him had yet to finalise the suitable candidate for the post.

“Until then, we have placed embargo on the decision,” he told a news conference after attending the Selangor government’s monthly assembly here, today.

Hasan, who was state Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Infrastructure and Public Utilities Committee chairman, was sacked as PAS member on Jan 8 for not toeing the party’s line.

Sultan Sharafuddin consented to the termination of Hasan’s appointment as a state executive councillor last Friday.

Asked whether there would be any changes to the portfolio of the new state executive councillor, Abdul Khalid said, “It will be announced when the time comes.”
