Najib confident BN can recapture Kelantan: Awang Adek

(Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is confident Barisan Nasional (BN) can recapture Kelantan from PAS in the next general election, said Kelantan Umno deputy chief Senator Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

He said Najib, who is also Umno president, expressed this confidence when meeting Kelantan BN leaders at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Pengkalan Chepa near here before ending his half-day visit to the state today.

He said the prime minister stated that although the fight between the BN and PAS would be very keen, Kelantan appeared to be a ‘winnable state’ for the BN in the next election.

“With the prime minister himself expressing such confidence, it will spur us to work very hard (to recapture) Kelantan,” he told Bernama.

The BN lost Kelantan to PAS in the 1990 general election.
