Daim: BN Needs to Engage the Younger Generation

(Bernama) – Former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin said the Barisan Nasional (BN) needed to take the initiative to engage the younger generation by attracting them to have an interest in the party.

The former Umno treasurer for 17 years said BN component parties should also spend time in influencing them through programs and policies carried out by the government.

“If we engage the younger generation intellectually, they will understand (the struggle of BN),” he said at a “Tun Daim with BN Lembah Pantai” event here tonight.

Also present was Lembah Pantai Umno division chief and Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing, Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.

Daim said the government must have a strong economic policy and policies which were acceptable to the people in its effort to attract them to choose the ruling party.

He also called on the government to resolve issues raised including the National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFCorp) controversy to avoid it from being politicized by the opposition.

NFCorp is alleged to have abused a RM250 million soft loan provided by the government to the company to manage the National Feedlot Centre in Negeri Sembilan.
