Give us the mandate: Najib

(NST) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the government was listening to the needs of the Chinese community and would like to do more for the community in the nation.

In his keynote address at the Malaysian Chinese at the Political Crossroads conference here this morning, he said to do more for the Chinese, he needed a mandate from the people.
 
“This is the first time I am seeking a mandate. I have the mandate from the Barisan Nasional but I need the mandate from you now to make Malaysia a great nation,” he told the crowd, which responded with a roaring applause.
 
Najib said he wanted to protect the economic and education independence of the Chinese and urged the community to make the right choices as the nation was now at a political crossroad.
 
He also declared that he wanted to make Malaysia a high income nation.
