Second MCA-DAP debate in the offing

MCA-DAP Debate

(NST) – After the debate between MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, the state leaders of the two parties in Negeri Sembilan are expected to do likewise.

Negri Sembilan MCA chief Dr Yeow Chai Thiam said he had agreed to accept an invitation to a public debate from Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman and Lobak state assemblymen, Anthony Loke.

However, he said the date, location and topic of the debate had yet to be finalised.

“We are now waiting for him (Loke) to fullfill his earlier promise to allow us to pick the location, time, venue and moderator. My agreement to debate was based on his earlier promise to allow us to decide on these matters,” he said when contacted.

He said Negeri Sembilan MCA had contacted The Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) on the possibility of engaging them to organise the debate as the institute was involved in organising the Dr Chua-Lim debate last Saturday.

Both Dr Chua and Lim are also expected to go for second round of debate in either Bahasa Malaysia or English after the first debate was conducted in Mandarin.

Meanwhile, Loke, when contacted overseas, said he would sort out the issues related to the debate upon his return next week.

Loke, together with other members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Electorial Reforms are currently in Europe to study the electoral processes there.
