Mat Sabu, Tian Chua to enter defence over 2007 Bersih rally

(THE STAR) – The High Court has allowed an appeal by the prosecution and ordered 17 people, including PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and Batu MP Tian Chua, to enter their defence for participating in the 2007 Bersih rally.

On Nov 19 last year, the Sessions Court acquitted all of them after ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against them on charges of participating in an illegal assembly on Nov 10, 2007.

The prosecution filed an appeal against their acquittal on Nov 25 last year claiming that the Sessions judge had erred in law and fact in acquitting them.
