Record bonus for Petronas’ employees

(The Business Time) – Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas)’s 44,000 staff will get at least five months’ bonus this year, the highest in the national oil corporation’s history.

Sources said the payment is based on its shortened financial year of nine months since Petronas changed its financial year-end to
December 31 from March 31 previously.

Based on this, on an annualised basis, this would translate into a bonus of 6.7 months, better than the previous record high of six months, the sources added.

The windfall apparently was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during a townhall meeting with Petronas’ senior management.
