Ex-exco man blames DAP for his sacking

(The Star) – Datuk Dr Hasan Ali, who took his place in the Selangor state assembly for the first time as an independent member, blames the DAP for his sacking from the state government.

“I was not sacked due to allegations like sodomy, but because the DAP does not want me here.

“I was sacked with dignity. Hasan Ali can still walk tall,” the former Selangor PAS commissioner told reporters after the opening of the state assembly meeting by the Sultan of Selangor at the State Secretariat building here yesterday.

During his term in the state executive council, the Gombak Setia assemblyman had crossed swords several times with fellow exco member Ronnie Liu, a DAP stalwart who had defended liquor sales in Selangor.

Dr Hasan was axed from PAS in early January over his public criticisms of the party and Pakatan Rakyat policies and their support for the so-called “Free Anwar” rally on Jan 9.

Dr Hasan, who was then the state executive councillor in charge of Islamic affairs, Malay customs, infrastructure and public amenities, was subsequently removed as the committee chairman.

“As a former state executive councillor, I notice there had not been any step taken by the state to address the said issues,” he said.
