Wikileaks Debate

(Malaysian Digest) – WikiLeaks in a press release via Twitter dated March 21, have formally invited Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to a debate with Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin either together, or in isolation.

WikiLeaks said the press release is a response  to the recent controversy over Anwar and Raja Petra and following Najib’s comments on the matter.

“In response to the recent controversy over Anwar Ibrahim and Raja Petra and following Prime Minister Najib Razak’s comments on the matter, we have formally invited Prime Minister Najib Razak to discuss the future of Malaysia together with Mr Ibrahim, moderated by Mr Assange. We now extend our invitation to Mr Najib to debate Mr Raja Petra and Mr Ibrahim together, or in isolation,” WikiLeaks said in a press statement  released “for Malaysia” yesterday.

If Najib accepted the invitation, the wistlblower website said the debate will be filmed and “seen by up to 600 million followers” of the controversial website.

On Saturday, Najib described Anwar’s refusal to debate with Raja Petra in Kent, England as inconsistent with his actions.

He also slammed the Opposition for constantly accussing the government for not being ‘democratic and open’, saying that in fact they (the Opposition) are the ones that have been barring some newspapers from attending their press conferences.

“But actually, if we look at their actions like barring some newspapers from attending their press conferences… is this consistent with what they are preaching all this while?” asked Najib.
