What’s AG, Musa’s hold on Najib?

Parliament’s rejection of a motion to debate the wrongdoings of officials like Attorney-General Gani Patail points to a cover-up, says ex MACC advisor Robert Pang.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Philanthropist and former Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) panel advisor Robert Phang has urged Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to hold to account government officials in the country who have done wrong.

Top on Phang’s list are the current Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail. He noted that the evidence against Gani was piling up in the public domain and were just too numerous and glaring for the relevant agencies to ignore.

Phang noted that the evidence included:

  • AG’s alleged complicity in the matters concerning Tajudin Ramli/MAS and whether there was suppression of evidence;
  • AG’s refusal to prosecute Tajudin Ramli despite the recommendation of the CCID;
  • Relationship between the AG and Tajudin’s proxy Shahidan Shafie. It is noted that Shahidan was previously charged with corruption while he was OC of Secret Societies of Johor;
  • Whether it is proper conduct for an AG to fraternize with a person of ill- repute especially when that person is connected to an ongoing investigations by the police and the MACC. Their consorting together is evident as exposed in the Haj scandal with photographs and other supporting Tabung Haji documents;
  • AG’s alleged complicity in the Ho Hup corporate tussle as evidenced by photographs of the AG at Ho Hup’s office and the prosecution of the other side.

Is there a cover-up?

Phang said people were disappointed that the Parliament Speaker had rejected the urgent motion by Subang MP R Sivarasa for this matter to be debated in Parliament last Wednesday.

“The integrity of Gani Patail impacts on the whole system of justice in this country. The rakyat sees this refusal to allow parliamentary debate on a matter of such importance as a cover-up,” he said in a statement issued here.
