PPP seeks to contest four Parliamentary, 12 State seats in GE13

(Bernama) – The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is asking to be allocated four parliamentary and 12 state seats for it to contest in the coming general election.

Its president Datuk M.Kayveas said the seats asked for were in Penang, Perak and Kuala Lumpur while the choice of candidates was left to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, to decide.

Speaking to reporters after officiating at the Batu Caves-Maran 1Malaysia Big Walk, here, today, he said the choice of seats was based on a field study carried out by the party.

In the last general electioon in 2008, PPP was allocated two seats in Perak – the Taiping parliamentary seat and Pasir Berdamar state seat – which they lost to DAP candidates.

Kayveas said PPP had drawn up various programmes including dialogues, seminars and meetings with new voters to win their support for BN.
