(Bernama) – Ten non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here have urged the government to revoke the citizenship of Bersih co-chairman Datuk S. Ambiga and withdraw all honorary titles awarded to her and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for being involved in an illegal rally.

Pledging their support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the police, some 500 members of Perkasa, the Malaysian Youth Council, JKKP Baling, Baling Siamese Association, Pekida, Baling Women’s and Wives Association, and Puteri Umno, and Malay traders burned the effigies of Anwar and Ambiga here today.

Baling Anti-Bersih Movement chairman Othman Mohd Nor said the people of Baling deplored the rowdy behaviour of the April 28 illegal rally protestors.

Baling Perkasa chairman Wan Mahmud Wan Ibrahim said the violence during the protest could be engineered by certain elements who were bent to destroy the country.
