(Malaysian Digest) – Actress Zahida Rafik’s former driver today claimed that her former employer had deposited as much as RM1 million into her account in a single transaction, claiming that the money came from the Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

It was reported that Zahida ‘s former personal driver, Noor Azman Azemi (left), had lodged a police report alleging that Shafie had paid cash to the actress for the past three years.

“Last year, she used to bank in RM1 million. But usually the amount revolves around RM100, 000 every week,” said Noor Azman in a media conference held at PKR headquarters.

“Once a week, I will bring Zahida to Maybank.

“I was never allowed to bank in the money on my own. Zahida will always be with me during the transaction process,” said Noor Azman.

PKR today demanded Shafie to come forward to explain the transfer of the cash to actress Zahida as alleged by Noor Azman.

zuraida_kamaruddin_16-5-12“We are not interested in the (alleged) intimate affair (between Shafie and Zahida). What we want to know is where the money came from,” said PKR Women’s chief Zuraida Kamaruddin (left) in a media conference at the party headquarters.

Zuraida said Shafie, who is the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, must come forward as the issue involves public interest.

“We urge him to come forward, and do some explanation,” said Zuraida.

“The intimate affair between Zahida and him (Shafie) is the second matter. The most important one is where did all the cash money that was used to pay Zahida come from?” she added.

PKR also called for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to start its investigation into the case although she refused to lodge an official report at the commission.

r_sivarasahSubang MP R Sivarasa (pic), who was also at the media conference, said that MACC should start acting even if there was no report lodged at the commission on the matter.

“MACC don’t need reports to start investigation. There are many articles written in the newspapers regarding the case. They can start the investigation from there,”

“The people have the right to know from what sources the money came from. Was it illegal money or bribe money? People want to know.

“Therefore, I hope in this near future, MACC will start their investigation and reveal their findings to the people,” said Sivarasa.
