Stop all demos and protests, say butt-flexing protesters

(Malaysian Digest) – Here’s an irony: The man who led the butt-flexing protest in front of Datuk S. Ambiga’s house on Tuesday is calling for an end to all demonstrations and protest.

The president of Persatuan Veteran Tentera Malaysia (PVTM), Mohd Ali Bahrom (left), told Malaysian Digest that since there would not be a sequel to Bersih, all other protests and demonstrations should also be canceled.

“Ambiga has repented and surrendered, (there should be) no more rallies,” he said.

Mohd Ali urged parties planning to hold demonstrations, “be it in front of Ambiga or (Deputy Inspector-General of Police) Khalid’s houses” against carrying out their threats.

“They are no longer relevant as normalcy has resumed in Malaysia now that the Bersih steering committee has announced that they have no plans for Bersih 4.0,” said Mohd Ali.

“Let us all respect that decision and be professional about it.”

Mohd Ali, or affectionately known as Ali Tinju among his acquaintances, had led 15 army veterans in a bizarre butt exercise in front of Ambiga’s house to protest against Bersih.

The action had drawn mixed reactions, with one party defending the men’s action and the other, just the opposite.

Mohd Ali had also rebutted claims that the act was vulgar, arguing that the men were “fully-clothed” when conducting the exercise.

He had also told Malaysian Digest in an exclusive interview that the group wanted to send a message to Ambiga to stop demonstrations that threaten the image of Malaysia, and invade on the privacy and rights of others.

Mohd Ali thanked Ambiga for “making the right decision that will keep Malaysia safe”.

“Ambiga made the right decision and PVTM would like to thank her for that,” he said.

Two days ago, the Bersih steering committee has announced that there would be no Bersih 4.0 in the near future despite PAS announcing a gathering of one million people at the next Bersih rally should Putrajaya fail to meet Bersih’s demands for electoral reforms.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday said the government had met all of Bersih’s demands.
