Umno Youth invites PM’s heckler to debate
(Bernama) – Umno Youth today challenged the loudest and most enthusiastic person, who disrupted Najib Abdul Razak’s speech in London, to a debate to convey to him correct information and updates on the Bersih 3.0 issue.
Describing the individual as a confused and very funny person, Umno Youth executive committee member Muhammad Khairun Aseh said the person could be ignorant due to lack of information and the debate could correct his misconceptions.
“I will represent Umno Youth and I hope this intellectual debate will take place in harmony,” he told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
A few individuals were heard and seen chanting “Bersih” as the prime minister was giving his speech at the ‘Sepetang Bersama Perdana Menteri’ (An Evening with the Prime Minister) event, attended by about 1,500 people, in London on Tuesday.
Muhammad Khairun said the London Umno machinery had identified the person as a relatively senior member of the Malaysian community in the United Kingdom and is working in Reading.
“The Umno machinery there has conveyed a message to this individual on the open debate and an official letter will be given to him today. We give him seven days to give an answer,” said Muhammad Khairun.
He said if the person did not take up the challenge for a debate, the people could judge the person for themselves that he is a coward.
“The opposition is also welcome to nominate a representative to take part in the debate, but the individual concerned will have to be on his own and cannot be represented by the opposition,” said Muhammad Khairun.
