(NST) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy president and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali was yesterday challenged by several of his constituents to lodge a police report to clear his name over a sex video allegedly featuring him.
Bukit Antarabangsa mosque committee member Shaharuddin Mohd Yusof said Azmin should come forward and clear his name if the allegations against him were baseless.
“Although Azmin has already denied the allegations, he should strengthen his stand by lodging a police report over this issue,” he told reporters at the Hulu Kelang police station yesterday.
In recent weeks, pictures and videos have appeared on two websites, www.papagomo.com and www.amwaraidc.com, which showed a man, who resembled Azmin, engaged in sexual acts with an unidentified woman on a sofa and in a toilet.
Azmin vehemently denied that he was the man featured in the video clips and photographs and followed this up with a RM100 million defamation suit against Malay daily Utusan Malaysia.
Shaharuddin, however, said that as the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, Azmin had an obligation to prove his integrity if he was to represent the interests of his constituents.
“He must lodge a police report and clear his name,” said Shaharuddin who was accompanied by about 10 others who claimed to be residents of Bukit Antarabangsa.
They also demanded that Azmin take an oath at the mosque here to convince them that he had never engaged in illicit sexual activities.
“We also want Azmin’s wife, Shamsidar Taharin, to come clean over allegations that she had an affair with Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.
He also said PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should also issue a statement clearing her husband Anwar of the allegations.
Their final demand to Azmin was that he return home and display filial piety towards his 78-year-old mother Che Tom Yahaya.
