KITA President wannabe Zamil alleged to be the ‘MP-buying agent’ in video
(Malaysian Digest) – Pakatan Rakyat disclosed that former KITA Kedah chief Zamil Ibrahim was one of the agents of Barisan Nasional in a video footage purportedly showing him and representatives of a Pakatan Rakyat MP negotiating on the agreeable price for the latter to defect to Barisan Nasional (BN).
A three-minute video clip was shown by Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad (pic) during a press conference at the Opposition leaders’ office in the Parliament building today to prove that there have been attempts by BN to buy MPs from Pakatan.
“The main reason we are presenting this video is to bring forth evidence that the buying of MPs is being carried out by agents who are acting for or acting on behalf of Umno specifically.
“This is what Umno has been doing all this while and this is the reason why there have been incidents of MPs jumping from one party to another,” said Khalid.
He said the clip is part of a three-hour-long footage covertly shot over a year ago when the Pakatan MP was approached.
“We shall not be revealing it in full (the video) but we will be identifying one of the agents involved in the buying of MPs who has been chosen by Umno… and we are hoping that after we have revealed the identity of the agent we will receive a response from the individual identified,” said Khalid.
In the clip, the man alleged to be Zamil, is seen with his back on the camera with four others, including a female. The group was sitting at a table in a restaurant negotiating on the MP’s defection.
The group can be heard saying “10 million” and “2 million” though the rest of the conversation is hardly audible as it takes place in a noisy restaurant. However, the man alleged to be Zamil and his ‘partner’ can also be heard telling the other three that the standard price (for defecting) is RM2 million.
The meeting is also said to have occurred over a year ago (before the formation of the party KITA) in the Klang Valley.
Meanwhile, Machang MP Saifuddin Nasution (left) pointed out that the change in Zamil’s lifestyle after his alleged involvement as an agent for BN justifies Pakatan’s suspicions of MP-buying activities by BN.
Also present during the press release was Tumpat MP Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar and Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him.
According to Khalid, Zamil was said to have worked at a burger stall in Pekan Bidong but is currently residing in Cinta Sayang Club, Sungai Petani, and leads a lavish and luxurious lifestyle.
In February, Zamil declared himself as the new KITA president though the party’s actual president and founder, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, denied the claim. Zamil was sacked from the party three weeks before he laid his claim on its chief.
Zamil had also once offered his Rolls Royce to anyone who can find a person resembling Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who was at the time implicated in a sex video.
