Anwar’s alleged master acccounts: Murad offers help

The former Bank Negara assistant governer says he is willing cooperate with the authorities if required. 

(Bernama) – Former Bank Negara Malaysia assistant governor Abdul Murad Khalid said today he was prepared to extend cooperation to the authorities, if required, on the alleged management of accounts totalling RM3 billion he believed involved Anwar Ibrahim.

Abdul Murad, in a statement obtained by Bernama, confirmed that he had made a statutory declaration in 1999 on the accounts.

In reply to the questions raised recently in the media, Abdul Murad said: “I have given the statements requested by the authorities.

“And, I am prepared to offer my cooperation to the authorities, if that is required of me.”

In his disclosure 13 years ago, Abdul Murad reportedly claimed that Anwar controlled 20 master accounts involving assets, shares and money totalling more than RM3 billion in value.

Various quarters, particularly from among non-governmental organisations (NGOs), have reportedly urged Anwar to provide an explanation pertaining to Abdul Murad’s claim.
