Explain your claims, Ezam tells Anwar

(The Star) – OPPOSITION Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been urged to explain whether he really “knew” about the two key “facts” he allegedly manipulated to associate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with the Scorpene submarine issue and the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, Utusan Malaysia reported.

Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat Youth chief Ezam Md Noor was quoted as saying that the recent statement by Bayan Baru MP Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim showed that political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda had only known Altantuya in 2004, after Kuala Lumpur inked the agreement to purchase a Scorpene submarine in 2002.

According to Ezam, that timeline would derail the Opposition and Suara Rakyat Malaysia’s (Suaram) intentions to associate Altantuya’s murder with the Scorpene deal.

“The rakyat knows that it is a political distortion by the Opposition through NGOs like Suaram,” Ezam told Utusan through an SMS.

He also reiterated Zahrain’s call for Anwar to stop slandering Najib with the Scorpene issue and Altantuya’s murder.

Recently, Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Datuk Zulkifli Noordin also revealed that Anwar had allegedly directed him to make up evidence to associate Najib in both issues.

Ezam had also urged the Opposition to reveal the identity of the person who funded Suaram’s activities in France.

“We want to know who is the person who was willing to make up evidence this time,” he said.
