Faekah: I’m just an expensive postman

Selangor MB’s political secretary Faekah Husin says she only forwards letters addressed to the MB and herself to the relevant state GLCs.

(FMT) – Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s political secretary Faekah Husin today described herself as an expensive postman whose job is to direct letters from legal firms to state government linked companies (GLCs).

“I am just an expensive postman who passes application letters from firms to related GLCs. I have sent more than 10 letters from legal firms to Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB),” she said.

She added that the application letters from firms were normally sent to her and Khalid.

Faekah was commenting on Utusan Malaysia’s report that PKR deputy president and Selangor chief Azmin Ali’s supporters had launched a campaign against her.

The report was based on a blog entry at sel13.com dated yesterday.

In a report entitled Bukti Salah Guna Kuasa, Amalan Kronisme Setiausaha Politik MB Selangor (Evidence of Power Abuse and Cronyism by Selangor MB’s Political Secretary), Faekah was accused of misusing her position to appoint a law firm, Sidrek Zeenat ‘Asyiqin & Associates, as the the legal team for PNSB.

The application was made on June 27, 2011 by Zeenat ‘Asyiqin Ahmad Zaki who is alleged to be Faekah’s niece.

After that, Faekah sent a letter using the Menteri Besar’s office letterhead dated Aug 10, 2011, to ensure the legal firm’s appointment. Both letters were published in the blog.

Faekah admitted signing the letters but denied the allegation of abusing her powers.

“I signed the letter but I did not compel them to give projects to the legal firms. I had also stated in the letter that the GLCs should allow new legal firms to be appointed as long as it did not go against the company rules,” she added.

She further said that there were no elements of cronyism since there were no projects being dished out by PNSB.
