Kickbacks claim: Report lodged against Nibong Tebal MP

Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching’s personal assistant has denied an accusation made by independent Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng that he is corrupt.

(FMT) – Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching’s aide Chan Huan Guan today lodged a police report against independent Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng for claiming that he had  allegedly received kickbacks amounting to RM18,000.

The police report was lodged this morning at the Seri Kembangan police station.

Chan said that the police should investigate Tan (photo) for criminal defamation under Section 499 of the Penal Code. The punishment for this offence is a jail sentence for a maximum of two years, or a fine, or a combination of a jail sentence and a fine.

“I deny the accusation made by Tan Tee Beng. His accusation was political in nature as I am the aide for a Pakatan Rakyat MP,” he said in his report. A copy of the report was extended to FMT.  Teo is a DAP elected rep.

Last Wednesday, former PKR MP Tan had claimed in a press conference in Parliament that Chan was allegedly taking RM18,000 in kickbacks since 2009.

Tan claimed that he had documents to prove that a “secret agreement” had been made between Chan and an unnamed landlord, who rented out his Cheras premises to Teo since 2009.

However on Friday, Chan responded by accusing Tan of spreading lies. He also warned Tan that he would be filing a defamation suit.

“I deny vigorously and firmly the accusation of Tan that I have collected as much as RM18,000 in kickbacks since 2009.

“It is irresponsible for Tan to spread lies and defame my name without providing evidence to substantiate his claim,” he had said on Friday.

Chan also challenged Tan to produce evidence to substantiate his allegation. “If he cannot do so, he should immediately retract his accusation and apologise to me.”
