Faekah ‘expected to resign by tomorrow’
(NST) – Speculation that Faekah Husin (pic), the political secretary of Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, is on the verge of resigning from her post is spreading like wildfire on the Internet and social media.
This followed rumours that several members of the state executive council had called for her sacking during their meeting yesterday.
The Agenda Daily news portal yesterday stated that the state executive councillors had called for Faekah’s resignation for misusing the Menteri Besar’s Office letterhead.
“Faekah is expected to resign by Friday after seeking advice from Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.”
Selangor Puteri Umno chief Suhaila Zin posted similar news on her Facebook account.
Suhaila said she got the news from a blogger through her BlackBerry Messenger contacts.
However, state executive councilor in charge of local councils, Ronnie Liu, rubbished the claims, saying the matter was not discussed during the weekly state exco meeting chaired by Khalid.
According to a source in the Selangor Menteri Besar’s office, many parties had tried to verify the speculation before the meeting began around 3pm.
The source said the uploading of the news into blogs and social networking sites seemed to imply that there was strong pressure to remove Faekah from her post.
He said Khalid would not need the approval from the state executive councilors as he had the prerogative to sack Faekah.
At press time, Faekah could not be reached for clarification.
Faekah had reportedly issued a letter of support to a company that applied for a state government contract. The company allegedly belonged to a relative, according to several portals and blogs.
