Azmin: No bad blood with MB
(The Star) – PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, allegedly sore that one of his key men had left an important government post in Selangor because of a longstanding feud with the Mentri Besar, denies there is bad blood between him and Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
“I am eyeing Putrajaya, not Selangor. I am happy with the state leadership and the good work done by him,” Azmin said after launching the Terengganu PKR election machinery here yesterday.
“I am committed to helping him and the state government defend Selangor in the general election,” the Gombak MP said, citing an event attended by both of them at Batu Caves in his constituency on Sunday.
The alleged feud between Azmin and Khalid has reportedly extended to the office of the Mentri Besar’s political secretary Faekah Husin, who is currently embroiled in a controversy regarding the Selangorku financial grants.
She was recently also accused of misusing her power by writing a letter of support for a family-related company seeking a government contract.
Caught in the web, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli quit as chief executive of the state economic advisory office to purportedly concentrate on party work, but supporters of Azmin blamed the move on Faekah.
His supporters in Terengganu have also put up banners demanding that Rafizi takes over as Terengganu PKR chief from incumbent Azan Ismail.
Asked about this, Azmin said: “We will investigate who are behind the banners.”
In SHAH ALAM, Faekah brushed off reports she would be resigning, saying she would remain in her post.
Several news portals had quoted that a number of state executive councillors had wanted her to step down due to complaints that she had allegedly abused her powers.
Khalid’s press secretary Arfa’eza A. Aziz also denied the reports.
Since early this month, an anonymous group using the Twitter handle @PecatFaekah and the Twitter hashtag #kamisayangpkr has emerged, expressing support for Azmin and urging Faekah to resign.
In a related development, MCA Young Professionals Bureau chief Datuk Chua Tee Yong accused Khalid of practising double standards for his failure to act against Faekah.
He said the state government had previously sacked municipal councillor Tee Boon Hock for allegedly abusing the letterheads of state executive councillor Ronnie Liu to issue support letters.
Tee was also expelled from DAP.
