MACC urged to look into Kelana Jaya PKNS field scandal

(The Star) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been urged to look into abuse of power which resulted in the reclassification of the land status of the PKNS field in Kelana Jaya.

MCA central committee member Loh Seng Kok said there was a suspicion of power abuse when the status of the land in SS7 was changed from recreational to commercial.

“Due to the many protests, an investigation was conducted which then revealed that there were actually three different local plans of the area: One version which was approved by the Selangor state assembly, and the other two different versions by the Selangor Town and Rural Planning Department and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ),” he said in a statement.

Loh said Selangors Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) had only succeeded in clarifying that there were three different versions of the local plan in existence, but failed to identify who was responsible for reclassifying the land.

“Thus, I urge that the MACC investigate and severely punish those who were responsible for abusing their power in amending the local plan and depriving the public of a green lung,” he said.
