Wong: Why no Selcat hearing against Faekah?

The Kuala Kubu Baru MCA has questioned PKR’s internal hearing of the Faekah Husin controversy.

(FMT) – Selangor MCA liaison committee secretary Wong Koon Mun has questioned the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability, and Transparency’s (Selcat) inaction against Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim’s political secretary Faekah Husin.

“What is the purpose of the Selcat, if PKR will only hold meetings amongst its members?

“How will the Selangor people be kept informed about the actions of their government?” Wong asked in a statement issued today.

Wong, who is also Kuala Kubu Baru state rep, said the rate-payers would be ‘unjustly kept in the dark’ on how the monies are being used without Selcat’s open public hearings.

He said this in response to PKR’s internal hearing on allegations that Faekah had provided a supporting state government letter for her relative.

PKR political bureau had summoned Khalid to explain the support letter scandal surrounding Faekah.

Wong also criticised PKR’s internal hearing which he said lacked transparency and accountability.

“This meeting is internal and will only be held and settled among PKR members.

“Therefore, it holds no bearing and does not address the real issues at hand – lack of transparency and accountability when nepotism is at play,” he said.

The controversy involving Faekah arose last month when Malay daily Utusan Malaysia published allegations that Faekah provided the state government’s support letter to a legal firm belonging to her relative.

‘PKR protecting Khalid’

The report was based on a blog entry entitled ‘Evidence of Power Abuse and Cronyism by Selangor MB’s political secretary’. Faekah however has dismissed the allegations.

Describing herself as an expensive postman, Faekah said that she had provided supporting letters for all legal firms that attempted to get a contract from state government linked companies.

Khalid has also defended Faekah in the wake of this alleged nepotism.
