PAS MP wants Selangor White Paper on Talam debt buyout

(The Malaysian Insider) – Selangor should issue a White Paper on the 2010 Talam Corp debt buyout to “clear the air” over MCA’s allegations of a RM1 billion scandal, Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said today.

The PAS lawmaker said the matter has been long delayed, adding the state government must disclose all facts for the sake of transparency and accountability.

“Had Selangor done this sooner, everything related to the scandal would have been out in the open by now,” he wrote today in his column in The Malaysian Insider.

“In hindsight, I think the MB has a game plan for the long delay. Barring anything unforeseen, it may or may not clear the air.

“Whatever it is, the onus is now on [Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim],” Dzulkefly said.

MCA Young Professionals’ Bureau chief Datuk Chua Tee Yong this week claimed of a RM1 billion scandal involving the Selangor government and Talam Corp Bhd.

Selangor has denied the allegations and said it will sue Chua for his claims.

Dzulkelfy also theorised that the reason Chua was spearheading the attack may be part of “intra-MCA” machinations to end the career of the party president’s son.

“With his lack of finesse or mastery of the matter exposing his failure to grasp the subject, Chua has placed himself in the guillotine. Is this an internal attempt to finish him off?

“The fact that the MCA party is leading the charge is even more baffling to say of the least,” Dzulkefly said.
