Teresa raps Teh for protesting against MB

(The Star) – Selangor DAP chairman Teresa Kok has rapped its Klang secretary Teh Teong Guan for protesting against the Selangor Mentri Besar’s handling of a support letter issue involving his political aide.

Calling Teh’s act “disrespectful to the spirit of Pakatan Rakyat”, Kok said the issue involving political aide Faekah Husin had been explained many times and considered closed.

“This issue was discussed at the Selangor Pakatan leadership meetings and the Mentri Besar had already satisfactorily explained in detail why Faekah’s letter did not flout the circular on support letters. The matter has thereafter been laid to rest.

“It has been explained time and again that Faekah had merely forwarded an application by a legal firm to be on the legal panel of state subsidiary Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), a company in which she holds no position.

“This legal firm was never given any work by PNSB,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Teh had led a group of DAP members in a protest in Klang over Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim‘s handling of the support letter issue.

He had questioned why Khalid did not sack Faekah as he had former Klang municipal councillor Tee Boon Hock, who was also at the protest.

In 2010, Tee was expelled for misusing the letterhead of state executive councillor Ronnie Liu to issue support letters, including one to endorse the appointment of his son’s company as a contractor to the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).

“As an MPK councillor then, Tee was in a position to influence the selection of contractors. To make matters worse, he had issued similar support letters earlier for contractors who subsequently received jobs from MPK,” said Kok.

She said DAP members should not go to the media to air their grievances as it would compromise the “good working relationship between party members”.
