‘Uncle Seekers’ manager picked up by Johor police

(Bernama) – Police detained a man believed to be the personal manager of paranormal researcher Syed Abdullah Syed Hussein Al-Attas, also known as “Uncle Seekers”, to facilitate investigations into entries on his blog (uncleseekers.blogspot.com) that allegedly defamed the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail.

Johor Criminal Investigations Department deputy chief ACP Mohd Akhir Ishak said the 39-year-old man was detained with a woman aged 27 at a shopping complex in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, about 9.30 pm last night by a Johor Baru South police team.

Both the woman and man are in remand for a day and until this Sunday, respectively, under the Official Secrets Act 1972.

Mohd Akhir added that Syed Abdullah’s friends, two men aged 23 and 24 who were arrested on July were released yesterday evening on police bail.

Syed Abdullah was detained again yesterday under the Sedition Act 1948.

He was earlier detained under the Official Secrets Act, on July 4.

On July 1, 30 individuals lodged police reports against Syed Abdullah for allegedly posting provocative and seditious entries about the Sultan in the blog.
